Mark 6.12-13 - “[The disciples] went out and preached that people should repent. They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.” Mark 6.12-13
In Biblical times, places, objects and people were anointed with oil to show that they belonged exclusively to God. In the New Testament, believers are anointed with the Holy Spirit, meaning that they are set apart and empowered to fulfill God’s purposes.
Today, if you heard God’s voice (cf. Heb 3.15), respond! Stand and commit to following Jesus, turn away from wrongdoing/-thinking, receive blessing and encouragement from the church with open hearts, raise your hands as you surrender your life to the Lord, confess earnestly your dependence upon God for your needs, cry out loud to God for help, humbly ask the church for prayer, sing fervently and encourage others with your passion, commit/recommit to living each day as a servant of the Lord. Through praying with others and having the church pray for you, express that you belong exclusively to God.
