2 Corinthians 4:1-6 (NIV)
1Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. 2Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God. 3And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
Reflection
Jesus Himself is the foremost revelation of an awesome God. And experiencing the awesomeness of God changes everything. Our whole perspective on life shifts. Our focus is not on ourselves, but we proclaim Jesus as Lord. As we come again to the cross and resurrection, as we gaze and reflect, as we meditate and are invited to know Him, as He lifts the veil from us so that we can see, we can know and experience this glory of God. And as we do, our lives are changed.
Responding to the Transmission
God makes His light shine in our hearts so that we would know Him. This weekend we were taken into God’s presence again. We read, meditated, experienced and responded to the cross and resurrection. Let’s continue in this as we reflect on the love shown on the cross and great power of God as Jesus was raised to life again. Let’s pray that our lives would be caught up in this and that like Paul we would preach not ourselves, but Christ as Lord.
