Zephaniah 3:17 (NLT) - “For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears.He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”

I still remember purchasing my first acoustic guitar with my allowance back in high school. It was a black Fender and I loved it! Learning to play meant building up calluses on my fingers and going through a period of pain, but I wanted to learn how to play so I could sing to God.

In high school, I attended a youth retreat where my life was changed forever. During the evening session, we were singing and praising God. God’s presence was palpable and my heart was undone. The worship pastor shared how our Father God sent his one and only Son so that we could know how much God loves us and so that we can become His children. He invited us to raise our hands if we wanted to receive His love and be called His child. I raised my hands that night as we were singing our hearts out. That night, I experienced an indescribable joy that was bubbling up inside of me and I needed to sing! God put a song in my heart to sing. I encountered God that night personally. He saved me! I experienced His delight and love calming all of my fears in His presence in the midst of His people.

When we sing to God, he allows us to experience His love and joy intimately as His children. He invites us to enter into His Presence with singing and experience the joy of His salvation and delight over us.
