2 Timothy 2:8-10 (NIV) - “Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained. Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.”
When something is precious to us, we cannot hide the fact. It becomes shown in our actions and people can feel it from us. For example, for those of us who love cupcakes and when there is only one cupcake left in the house, you know that we are “eyeing” it and people in the household can “feel” that it is already claimed by you.
The gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is what is most precious in our lives. And as Paul shared, it “is my gospel”, it became the core of his being where it became the motivation of everything that he did so that others may know his gospel and because of it, he was willing to endure until the end.
Let’s pray that our hearts will be stirred with greater passion for the Lord and for others to know him. Let’s pray that we will take much courage in our Lord Jesus Christ to endure in all the ways that the Lord is calling us in our church (whether in our missional groups or campuses). Let’s also remember in prayer the names of all those in our missional groups or campuses.
As we do so, let’s pray and sing along with this song, “As It Is in Heaven”, by Matt Maher:
