2 Timothy 2:8 (NIV) - “Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel…”
Hebrews 12:3 (NIV) - “Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”
In my earlier childhood years, I did not have good memories going to the shopping mall with my mother. It was always so boring as I had to follow her around to the shops that she wanted to go to. So, I did my best to learn how to wait around, playing under the clothes racks or sitting on one of the mannequin display ledges. Once I got to my teenage years, I was able to start walking around the mall and be able to purchase things I wanted on my own. It became a totally different experience, and I found out - “oh, this can be fun.” It became a brand new reference point for shopping. J
When we need to face and walk through really difficult things, often times, we can remember in the old of how hard it is going to be, and perhaps, the painful things we may need to experience. And, we can get afraid, timid or even reluctant in wanting to face or work through the difficulties.
It is a given that we will have difficulties and especially face suffering for our faith, but we are to remember now, in the new reality, what we have in Jesus Christ. So, let us remember Jesus Christ. Let us “consider” him. As the Holy Spirit testifies in our hearts, this is our new reference of how we can walk through with much hope and courage through the most difficult things of life, but especially as we want to grow in serving the Lord.
For today, let’s pray that the Holy Spirit will help us all throughout the day to remember (or consider) Jesus. No matter what we need to face or do and no matter what happens, that we will be led by the Spirit all through out the day to remember Jesus.
