1 Peter 2:9-10 (NIV)
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
Reflection:
Because of the kindness, love and mercy that we have received in Christ, we have been given a new identity and new foundations to relate to others. Just as we have received God’s mercy, our hope is that those around us will experience the kindness and love of Christ and that we will reflect the Father’s heart to those who have not yet experienced it. As we live in our new identities in Christ, we are reminded to be His people revealing God’s love, mercy and kindness to others.
Response:
Let’s thank God that by His love and mercy, He has given us new identities. Let’s ask God to help us to relate to others in light of our new identity and as we do, let’s pray and hope that others will experience God’s love and mercy.
