Isaiah 40:25-31 (NIV)
25 “To whom will you compare me?
Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One.
26 Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens:
Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one
and calls forth each of them by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
not one of them is missing.
27 Why do you complain, Jacob?
Why do you say, Israel,
“My way is hidden from the LORD;
my cause is disregarded by my God”?
28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
Reflection:
Have you ever looked up at the clear night sky to see a multitude of shining stars? It is like a sparkling white blanket that stretches from one end to the other. With so many stars, does it matter if one star were not there? Would anyone notice or care? In our thoughts, nobody would notice or care. But to the One who created them one by one and called each one forth by name, it does matter and it does make a difference. God notices and He cares. Sometimes, we may feel like a tiny star – hidden, insignificant and alone in a myriad of others. But it is at these times that God reminds us of who He really is. “Don’t you know? Haven’t you heard?” God asks us. The Lord is the everlasting God and the Creator of all. He does not grow tired or weary. He gives strength to the weak ones like us. So, as we wait and hope in the Lord, we will soar on wings like eagles, we will run and not grow weary, and we will walk and not be faint.
Response:
Because of who He is, we can wait on Him. We can rest assured and put our hope in the Lord who renews our strength. Let us bring all of our weariness and lay them before the Lord. He will help us so that we will soar, run and walk as we wait on His strength and power.
