Psalm 19:1-4 (NIV)
1The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
3They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
4Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
Reflection
All of creation - from Mars, fire ants, killer whales, atoms, DNA, Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tree in front of your dorm, the squirrels on your campuses, sunrises to sunsets - shouts aloud how awesome is God and how epic is his creation. It’s a type of declaring and proclaiming that keeps on going and going and is unrestricted by any language. It speaks of God’s magnificence and God’s sense of regularity and orderliness. And even more awesome is that it is being revealed to us, his created people each day and night.
Responding to the Transmission
As we walk around campus, our neighborhoods, and drive through our cities, let’s soak in with our eyes, ears, smell and touch the wonder of God’s creation! May our lives be captivated in the fresh adoration of God that creation’s beauty and mystery offer us day after day. May we, as a part of creation also declare the glory of the Lord in the unique way humanity has been shaped to do.
