The Adjunct Faculty Advisory Committee (AFAC) offers professional development funding for adjunct faculty. This is a rolling deadline.  Apply within the 2018-2019 academic year.
 

UMBC established the fund, administered annually by the AFAC, to support professional development for adjunct faculty. Individual awards are capped at $500 for the academic year. Awards reimburse the applicant for travel, conference registrations, etc., for active participants in conferences, seminars, and other professional events.

Note: The AFAC recommends successful applicants to the Provost's office. Awards are disbursed by the UMBC provost. (Apply at least 30 days before the event and request reimbursement within 10 days after participating.)

Important information about Open Enrollment

It’s that time of year, and the annual Open Enrollment period for faculty and staff health benefits is fast approaching. This year, Open Enrollment will run October 15 – November 15.

During this time, employees can make changes to their health benefits for a January 1, 2019 effective date. Employees who were on health benefits prior to August 25, 2018 will receive an individualized packet of materials with instructions, a benefits guide, highlighted changes, and 2019 rates from their department or unit during the week of October 15. Those hired after August 25, 2018 can obtain information from the Human Resources website. More detailed information on this year’s open enrollment can be found on theOpen Enrollment section of the site. In addition, new and prospective retirees seeking information regarding Retiree Prescription Plan Changes can review updates on the benefits information section of the site.

In the meantime, please join us for our Annual Health Benefits Fair on Wednesday, October 10, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom. In addition, there will be two information sessions in UC 312 from 12 – 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23 andTuesday, October 30.
