<Title>May is Mental Health Awareness Month</Title>
<Tagline>Break the Silence, End the Stigma</Tagline>

    <div class="html-content"><span><strong>The Office of Accessibility and Disability Services is celebrating May as Mental Health Awareness Month.  Established in 1949, this celebration raises awareness of the importance of mental health, self-care and the importance of support and treatment options for personal and community health.  Learn more about mental health and practices such as sleep and exercise that can enhance mental well-being.</strong></span><div><span><strong><br></strong></span></div><div><span><strong>The <a href="https://wellness.umbc.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Wellness Initiative [link]</a> and <a href="https://healthyretrievers.umbc.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Healthy Retrievers [link]</a> coordinate resources, classes, webinars and initiatives that support mental health and well-being.</strong></span></div><div><span><strong><br></strong></span></div><div><span><strong>Students seeking to connect with others about mental health awareness and support can link up with the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/UMBCNami" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">NAMI UMBC [link]</a> student organization and/or find confidential support and additional resources through<a href="https://counseling.umbc.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"> The Counseling Center's website [link]</a>. </strong></span></div><div><span><strong><br></strong></span></div><div><span><strong>Want to be more effective with mental health in the community?  Get trained in <a href="https://counseling.umbc.edu/workshops/mental-health-first-aid/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Mental Health First Aid</a> through the UHS's office of Health Promotion which offers it twice each semester.  Call 410-455-2546 to find out about the next class.</strong></span></div><div><span><strong><br></strong></span></div><div><span><strong>Faculty and staff who are struggling with a situation may have support and referral through the <a href="https://hr.umbc.edu/benefits/benefit-information/employee-assistance-program/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">employee assistance program </a>[link], as well as through their insurance networks.</strong></span></div><div><span><strong><br></strong></span></div><div><span><strong>And let's not forget that the stress of the end of the semester has many campus partners providing avenues for relief. </strong></span><strong><a href="https://womenscenter.umbc.edu/events-programs/upcoming-events/?id=66458" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">The Women's Center is having a self-care day on May 14th</a> and the <a href="https://my3.my.umbc.edu/groups/themosaic/events/70385" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Mosaic Center is having a Relaxation Station on May 15th</a>.</strong></div><div><span><strong><br></strong></span></div><div><br></div></div>
