    <div class="html-content"><div><div>December 1 is<a href="https://www.hiv.gov/events/awareness-days/world-aids-day" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"> World AIDS Day,</a> a day to unite in the fight to end the HIV epidemic, support people living with HIV and honor those who have lost their life.</div><div><br></div><div>This year, the focus is on global commitment to deliver quality, people-centered HIV prevention and treatment services that create and sustain impact.  We must strengthen the capacity and resilience of communities and health systems to address HIV prevention services in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The US Department of Health and Human Services and its partners remain committed to <a href="https://www.hiv.gov/federal-response/ending-the-hiv-epidemic/overview" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">accelerating efforts to end the HIV Epidemic</a></div><div><br></div><div><a href="https://www.cdc.gov/worldaidsday/index.html" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">World AIDS Day Toolkit</a></div><div><br></div><div>HIV/AIDS is one example of a serious health condition that may qualify as a disability.     <div class="html-content">Accessibility and<span> Disability Services (ADS) is operating remotely during the physical closure of the UMBC campus for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester. Disability accommodation letters remain in effect during this period of telework and essential operations, though work-related questions and concerns may arise about disability-based accommodation. </span><div><br></div><div>Important to note:</div><div><br></div><div>1. The <a href="https://accessibility.umbc.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">ADS website</a> has a "business continuity" posting on our landing page. Important information, accommodation request processes and resources will continue to be updated there. </div><div><br></div><div>2.     <div class="html-content"><span>The COVID-19/Coronavirus</span><span> situation can raise specific concerns for faculty, staff and students with compromised or suppressed immune systems due to a disability.  Campus members with diagnosed conditions are welcome to contact our offices if the need arises, for a discussion of possible accommodations to access UMBC's classes, programs, services, and work.
