Survey: Perceptions of Faculty Diversity Initiatives at UMBC Dear Tenure Track CAHSS Faculty Member:

I am a graduate student in the Language, Literacy and Culture Program. I write asking your participation in a research study on faculty diversity at this institution. The purpose of this study is to examine faculty diversity initiatives at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, a historically diverse institution. The study will use a qualitative case study design to explore how these initiatives are perceived among tenure-track faculty and administrators within the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS).
 
As part of the study, I am asking all tenure-track CAHSS faculty to complete an on-line qualitative survey. The survey is completely voluntary and anonymous. It will not contain information that may identify you. Specifically, the survey does not ask for names or department affiliations but only tenure track confirmation and racial/ethnic self-identification. All data will only be reported in the aggregate. The survey should take about 12 minutes to complete. I would sincerely appreciate your participation. Please click the link at the bottom of this email to begin the survey. Romy Hubler, the Coordinator of Student Life for Student Organizations reached out to Theo and I. She is looking for a faculty advisor for PakSA (Pakistani Student Association).  Their mission is to provide "positive exposure to the culture and traditions of Pakistan."

Their advisor has left the university and, in order to register for the 2017-18 academic year, they will need a staff or faculty advisor who is committed to supporting the organization as necessary.

Originally from Silver Spring, Maryland, Kim received her BFA in Visual Arts/Photography from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and her MFA in Fine Art/Photography at San Francisco State University.

Kimberley was awarded the Murphy and Cadogan Contemporary Art Awards by the San Francisco Foundation in 2014, and was Kearny Street Workshop's 2015 APAture Featured Visual Artist. Kimberley is an Arts Educator at Leadership High School and is Root Division's 2016-2017 Blau-Gold Teaching Fellow, teaching after-school art classes at San Francisco's Filipino Education Center.

She is showing new work in Filipino American Artist Directory's first exhibition, (De)Centered, in Washington D.C. this month. The show opens on May 13 and will run through June 16.
